In an earlier Diablo 4 livestream(opens in new tab) Game director Joe Shely, along with associate game director Joesph Piepiora as well as community manager Adam Fletcher gave fans an update on all things Diablo 4, as well as revealing the process ahead of the game's release this summer Diablo IV Gold.

During the stream they discussed how to play the Diablo 4 battle pass (around the 39:15 mark in the video below) and the coming seasons of the game. "It's extremely important for us to balance what you'd expect to find within the Battle Pass," Piepiora added, "the way that they're extremely compelling, but they're also equitable, we don't want to create any conditions where players can feel that they're paying to win. "To clearly distinguish among the combat pass as well as the seasons in Diablo 4 the game's seasons, Piepiora said that "the season's journey continues present in Diablo 4, in the same way you experienced it within Diablo 3." The chapter-based mechanic will provide players different goals as they progress through the season and will allow players to earn rewards in game on their own characters. "All of the seasonal content is available for free. It's not attached to the battle pass itself," Shely adds.

To make it clear what's going on, Shely clarified that, when Diablo 4 launches on June 6, 2023, it will not launch immediately with season one. "Season one will begin a few weeks after the launch of the game. And when season one starts it will all start at the same time, all players will be on an equal chance to play," the developer said. The competitive features of Diablo 4 (e.g. : leader boards) are apparently going to appear in the upcoming seasons which means that players who don't pay for early access will not have to worry about any unfairness.

"Our major season updates are totally free. They're loaded with different progression mechanics for the game, new monsters to fight, missions, challenges, and even content to devour," Piepiora says "there's a lot to look forward to and it all comes with an in-box price for the game you've already bought buy Diablo 4 Gold."
